Parade Season - 10/1/07
The members of the Drakeville Volunteer Fire Department had yet another great marching season. The department participated in a total of six parades. Not only did the members receive awards for their marching, but Brush 36 brought home an award every parade including Best Brush Truck in the State! We started our season out in June at the Canaan parade. There, we took home the awards for Best Appearing Apparatus and Best Appearing Company 15 or Under. Our next stop was in July at the Tunxis Hose Parade. That night we were awarded Best Appearing Company in Shirts and Best Appearing Brush Truck. At the end of July, we attended the Bantam Parade. We again took home the Best Appearing Mini – Pumper/Brush Truck Trophy. In August we were at the Thomaston Parade taking home the Best Appearing Brush Truck trophy. We then went to the Winsted Parade in late August. Winsted awarded us with the Ted Vaill Memorial Trophy for the Best Appearing Apparatus. It was indeed an honor to be awarded this trophy. Our final stop for the year brought us down to West Haven to the Allingtown Fire Department for the CT State Convention and Parade. Here everyone is trying to edge out the other in order to take home the trophies. We were very happy to win the Best Appearing Brush Truck for the State.
The D.V.F.D. would also like to congratulate the Torringford Volunteer Fire Department on their award winning season as well. It was a great season for everyone that participated.
Congratulations Officers - 7/6/07
Congratulations to all of our officers for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. 2007-2008 Officers can be found on our members page.
Congratulations All Around - 3/1/07
The members of the Drakeville Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to past Chief Aaron Picz. Aaron has just been selected to join the Torrington career fire department as a firefighter, and as a result will be parting with our organization. We would like to thank Aaron for all of his years of membership and leadership, and to let him know that he will be missed.
To fulfill the role of Chief between now and our next elections, Deputy Chief Mike Maccalous has been appointed to the position of Chief by our commissioners.
Congratulations Aaron and Mike!
